For Christmas gifts, delivery cut-offs vary by carrier and seller. Look at the delivery date shown on the listing before you order, especially for items that ship from overseas.
How do Amazon Black Friday deals work?
Amazon uses a few deal formats during Black Friday week. They look similar on a search page, but they behave differently.
- Lightning Deals. Amazon describes them as limited-time promotions with a capped quantity. When a deal sells out it ends, even if time is left, and buyers are generally limited to one unit. If all discounted units are in other shoppers’ carts, the page shows a “Join waitlist” button.
- Prime early access. Amazon says Prime members can see upcoming Lightning Deals before they start. During some events, such as Prime Day, claiming a Lightning Deal requires Prime.
